Make Your Own Cotton Pads

When it comes to reusing old waste, nothing is better than being able to come up with a solution that also eliminates the need to purchase a product that you use on a daily basis. Enter the reusable cotton pad!

They couldn’t be easier to make, and work perfectly when taking your make-up off or cleansing your face.

Reusable Cotton Pad

How To Make Them

1. Choose the fabric you’re going to use. Most cotton t-shirts will work well, but do bear in mind that this will be rubbing against your face, so the softer, the better! It’s also a great way to use up smaller cut-offs from previous projects, as you really don’t need very much!

2. Cut the fabric into 5x5cm squares, you will need two identical squares for each pad. You can make these bigger or smaller if you prefer.

3. Put two squares together, so that the inside side of each piece is touching each other (i.e. the ‘outside’ of the fabric is facing out both ways).

4. Sow around the edge of the square, around 5mm in from the edge. You can use a sowing machine or hand-sow this, whichever you prefer.

Face Pads

And there you have it, a super simple cotton pad square! What’s great about these is that they don’t have to be perfect, or beautiful, you can use any fabric, and don’t even need to use the same fabric on both sides!

What’s more, is you can reuse these again and again. Simply keep your used pads in a small laundry bag, and pop them in with your regular wash!
