Continuing the summer theme we've moved onto ice cream for our next brand, Simply. A fellow Kent-based company, we can't seem to go anywhere without seeing Simply in the freezers. But with good reason. Their ice cream is truly delicious. It is utterly rich and creamy - the epitome of decadence. If last month was all about the branding, this month is truly all about the taste.
Much like Goupie, Simply's ice cream is all made by hand, in small batches. Once following them on Instagram (@simplyicecreamkent), we're sure you'll be drooling over the screen, just like us. Pretty much every post shows an obscene amount of ice-creamy goodness that you wish you could swim in. Again, like us, this allows them to create a huge range of flavours (we counted 22 not including their sorbets) spanning from the staple vanilla to the more unusual brown bread (which does taste much better than it sounds!), and most importantly they have a vegan range!
We're not the only ones obsessed with Simply's outrageously rich ice creams. They've won multiple awards across all of their flavours including the prestigious Great Taste and Quality Food Awards and have a range of impressive testimonials on their website. Our fav is from James Martin - 'the best bought ice cream available' - and couldn't agree more!
It's always nice to know that you weren't the only business that started up in a family kitchen, almost my accident! It takes a lot of hard work to grow a food business like that, but Sally has certainly put in the hard graft. Not only does she run Simply Ice Cream, but she also has her own catering company and four children to look after! What's more, all of Simply's ice cream is still made at Sally's home. Her and her husband added an extension onto the house to create their SALSA certified factory unit - talk about living at the office!
It's hard not to admire Sally and her success. Not to mention how fantastic it is to see another female entrepreneur succeeding locally! For this reason, and many more, we fully support Sally and Simply Ice Cream. We only hope to see them grow more, so keep up the good work guys!
