The Coconut Release and more
We had originally planned to release Coconut at the beginning of May but a little SALSA audit (we explain a little about that here) slowed us down a bit. The new launch day was 11th May. But by the 5th we still hadn't ordered our labels. We were also juggling a major label update which meant 12 different flavours also had to have their labels redesigned in time for the order. On the 21st our new labels arrived and it was all systems go - the newsletters, product page, social posts, etc could finally go live!
The following week we had record May heat. All orders had to be delayed to stop the chocolate melting in transit. Mum headed out to deliver a few local packages so that at least some people would get their Goupie on time.

I'd braced myself for a lacklustre response to Coconut Goupie, based on Bounties always being the leftover flavour of selection boxes (at least in our house). But it seems like the people that love coconut really love coconut! More than any other flavour people were buying multiple Coconut Goupies at a time (thank you!!) And again Dan was absolutely obsessed, endlessly asking for nibbles on the 'model' chocolate stock.
May also saw the arrival of one of our most exciting Goupie products to date. The Mallow Top! Born out of the dreams of a few of the Goupie fam, and spurred into action by our very own long-serving Goupie Oompa-Loompa Claire, the Goupie Mallow Top is our take on a teacake.
Imagine (if you haven't already tried one) the classically chewy chocolate base of Original Goupie topped with a mound of marshmallow and coated in our signature 55% chocolate. As soon as we tried it we knew it was a winner. Then it became an issue of how to package it, what to call it, and when to release it. After some very dodgy name suggestions (mostly from dad) we asked some of our oldest family friends for their input before settling on the name.

As for when to release it... ...we already had our summer release plans, autumn release plans, and Christmas release plans... Either we waited until next year, or we rejigged a few things and pulled the trigger early. If you've had a Mallow Top you can understand why we decided for an early, slightly rushed release... They are quite possibly the best thing we've made.
After changing up our July schedule, designing some (possibly temporary) packaging, and taking some photos, we were ready to let our Mallow Tops loose.
