- 1tsps Vanilla Essence

Method
Mumma's got a goodun for you today! This recipe is for everyone out there who doesn't think that a vegan recipe can be just as indulgent and delicious as any other naughty sweet treat recipe. Here at Goupie, we're all about normalising vegan food, so that it's accessible to all - whether you're vegan or not (we are not). That way, we can all feel good about reducing our intake of certain foods, whilst still enjoying what we eat. And so, drum roll please...today we release our double chocolate hazelnut donut recipe!
What You Do
Mix the water, yeast and a teaspoon of the sugar in a bowl, and leave for around 5 minutes (until it starts to froth).
Blitz the Goupie until it is a fine crumb. Then add to the yeast mixture with all other ingredients (except chocolate spread). Knead this mixture for around 10 minutes.
Leave mixture to rise for at least 2 hours, when it should have doubled in size.
Split mixture into around 20, even sized, balls. Leave to rise for a further 20 minutes.
If you have a deep fat fryer, heat oil as instructed. Otherwise, you can use a deep, wide frying pan or wok, filled with oil.
Deep fry your donuts. The oil should be hot enough that it sizzles when you add the donut, but not too hot that they instantly burn. Around 2-4 minutes of cooking should be sufficient at the right temperature.
Allow your donuts to cool on some kitchen paper before using a skewer to poke a hole in the middle of each donut.
Using a piping bag, filled with your chocolate spread, fill each of the donuts.
Coat each donut in a dusting of fine sugar and serve!
These really are fantastic when served straight from the pan, but cold will work just as well! I mean, who can resist a chocolate dough, deep fried and then filled with even more chocolate? We certainly can't!
Goupie Tip: According to one of our well seasoned Goupie tasters, Sophie, these donuts can last up to 7 days! She recommends popping them in the microwave for 30 seconds and they'll be good as new..thanks Sophie!
