It's certainly too hot for a hot chocolate at the moment, but have you ever tried icing your hot chocolate?? I mean, why not? We ice our coffee, tea, even chai. Here's our killer recipe for a frothy, iced hot chocolate.

Method

If you've been looking around at your friends and family drinking iced lattes and iced tea and thinking 'I wish I liked coffee...' or 'Will I look like a child if I order a milkshake?' then have no fear! We're here with the adult, coffee-free, iced alternative. Iced hot chocolate! This can be made using any one of our hot chocolate drinks, but we've chosen to stick to our staple 55% in this example.

An iced hot chocolate offers a lighter, and less sugary alternative to a milkshake, providing an adult option for anyone looking for a summer drink that doesn't involve tea or coffee!

We used our Smeg Milk Frother to make ours, as it can cold froth milk (yes, cold froth!), but you can of course make your hot chocolate the old fashioned way and simply pour over ice! Here's how we make ours:

  1. Pour 200ml of oat milk into your milk frother and set the function to hot chocolate making. Add 60g of our hot chocolate mix to the frother and turn on!
  2. Fill two glasses with ice, and pour your hot chocolate mix over them.
  3. Rinse out your milk frother and pour in an additional 200ml of oat milk. Set the function to cold froth (we chose the frothiest of these options) and press go!
  4. Pour the froth over your iced hot chocolates and dust with cocoa powder.

It really is that simple!

If you're not lucky enough to own a milk frother, follow these instructions:

  1. Heat 200ml of oat milk in a pan over a medium heat and add 60g of our hot chocolate mix.
  2. Stir constantly until the mix is fully combined.
  3. Fill two glasses with ice, and pour your hot chocolate mix over them.
  4. Top up your glasses with an additional 100ml in each glass and serve!

Enjoy your refreshing iced drinks, and send in pictures of yours at home!
